Come with your family and be a part of a day full of healthy competition in physical and mental stimulating activities! Be prepared for obstacles that will test your family bonding skills to head to head challenges against other families!

A presentation will be given about each of the aspects positions and then will have a breakout session for community members to ask questions about the responsibilities of each Core Member.

Pilipino Cultural Celebration XX: Anak

A story of love, struggle, and sacrifice.

…The Pilipino Cultural Celebration (PCC) is a showcase of all of the performing aspects of FSA coming together to tell a story of Filipino issues, histories, and identities.

This year’s PCC will feature the story of an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) named Gabriella Galingan and her struggle to provide for her family. In relocating to a new country, she finds that grappling with her job is worth more than having her family struggle back home. Anak is Tagalog for “Child”

Kasama Ballroom Dance

Then come to ALAY’s Filipino Folk Music and Rondalla Workshop!!!

Facilitated by Kawayan Folk Arts, the workshop will include the history of and hands on activity for:
Rondalla – Philippine-Spanish mandolins from Christian cultures.
Kulintangan – knobbed gongs from Indigenous and Muslim cultures of Southern Philippines
Gangsa – Flat Gongs of Northern Philippine tribes

An Open Mic/ Open Canvas to give community an opportunity to sing, dance, performspoken word, etc. in a welcoming space and to be able to contribute to a collective painting session with canvas/brushes/paint supplied.

This event is special to express ALAY’s solidarity with the March 2nd Day of Action. We would like to highlight the true definitions of HIGHER EDUCATION by providing a students a space to share their cultures, experiences, knowledge and talents on the stage and on a canvas. There is more to OUR University than the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics fields and we have to find a way to merge them with the Humanities fields– we want a college that fosters our thinking and provide a more holistic learning environment.
