A Step Forward 14 Volunteer Meeting

Hello Everyone!

A Step Forward is just 36 short days away and as the planning begins to pick up, so has your duty as a volunteer! For those of you who do not know, A Step Forward is 1 of 3 student-led, student-run yield outreach programs on campus. This means that we outreach to already admitted high school seniors and bring them up to UC Santa Cruz to soak up the college experience for 3 days and 2 nights. We specifically outreach to Filipino communities that under-resourced and under-represented and in trying times like these, it’s important to stress the value of Higher Education. It is our hope to inspire these students and work with our volunteers to encourage a sense of community so that these students do not have act alone to make tough decisions or result in sacrificing school for other priorities. This years theme is Solidarity toward Reclaiming our Education.

With that said,

our LAST informational Volunteer Meeting is coming up on TUESDAY, MARCH 9!!! Located most likely in the e2 REDWOOD LOUNGE right in the Quarry Plaza. From 6-8PM!

If you want to see more diversity and beautiful brown faces on the UC campus, then please come support and take action by attending this meeting. Get your questions answered and learn what you can do to help!

FREE Snacks will be available…..

Hope to see you all there, and please feel free to contact us for any more information.
***However, IF YOU CAN NOT ATTEND this meeting && are still interested in volunteering, shoot us an EMAIL for immediate steps that need to take place!

A.S.F. Intern Opportunity

Hello FSA Community!

Please take advantage of this great opportunity!

A Step Forward is an outreach program run through UC Santa Cruz’s Filipino Student Association (FSA) in accordance with Engaging Education (e^2) . This program targets already admitted high school and transfer students. For three days and two night, the students will have the opportunities to learn and understand community and the purpose of higher education.

ASF requires dedication and commitment in order to plan and organize such an event. There is an available INTERN POSITION as we are looking for potential future coordinators. This opportunity will enable students to embody the position of an ASF leader, learn the logistics, work ethic and obligations required for this outreach program first-hand.

If you are interested in fulfilling this intern position, please fill out the ATTACHED application in word document format, DUE Friday, November 6 by 11:59pm. If your responses fit what we envision in an intern, you will be contacted by Wednesday, November 11. From there, interviews will be set up.

Please keep in mind this is a large time commitment. We look forward to hearing from you. Please contact us if you have any questions. Thank you. GOOD LUCK!

Student Initiated Outreach Film Documenter Wanted

Hey community!

The Three Student Initiated Outreach programs, ASF, DHE and ORALE, were wondering if anyone would be interested in filming and documenting the planning process of the three programs. It would consist of a short 5-7 minute film about how much planning actually goes into the programs before the actual day. This film would be shown on the opening day to all the participants and volunteers.

Basically, the “SIO Film Documenter” would get footage of all the meetings, volunteers and anything else that goes into the planning process for the three programs. Whoever is chosen will receive funds for the actual film, a t-shirt from all three programs and a big ass thank you from all the coordinators, volunteers and participants. So if you’re interested or know anyone that would be interested let them know and get back to us ASAP! You can reach us by email at asf12.fsa@gmail.com. Thanks everyone!
